Candice Glover wins season 12 of 'American Idol'

Candice Glover of Beaufort, South Carolina is the winner of the 12th season of Fox's "American Idol."  Candice managed to beat out Woodville, Texas-native Kree Harrison to become the first woman to win the title since season six winner Jordin Sparks.

The announcement comes with little surprise as many have long believed Candice to be the frontrunner in the competition.  While Kree didn't walk away with the win, both she and Candice won new Ford Escapes.

Thursday night's season finale also marked the final appearance at the judge's table for veteran "Idol" judge Randy Jackson.  Randy thanked the show's staff and fans.

The episode featured numerous performances from artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Aretha Franklin, Emeli Sandé, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Adam Lambert and The Band Perry.
